Communities
Web 2.0 is the present. It means that people are actively involved in creating websites and communicating with each others without any technical knowledge of any programming languages. No webmaster ist needed between the visitors anymore. Virtual worlds is a further development of this idea. All content is completely created by its users - not for eternity but for the moment. Webmasters - in virtual worlds they are called sim-owners - create an environment where visitors can exchange ideas, create their objects and interact. To find like-minded people, it is important to be part of communities. These groups are founded and organized by visitors who want to demonstrate their thinking or find other people with the same interests. In these communities - in Second Life they are called groups - you can talk to the mmebers at the same virtual place or just via voice wherever you are at the moment. You can organize events just for the group members or can invite others to join the group. ![]() Groups are a strong component of virtual worlds. People like to be part of a community and they like to take an active role in this community. On the vhs island we founded several groups - partly to distribute the properties and rights correctly but also to build a community.
