Energy Project

Education- and Information platform for future-orientated energy technologies
Saving Energy - see and feel it in a virtual world, do it in Real Life

Interested in saving energy? Do you want to get more information, gain experiences or get into contact with local companies?

Then you should visit us on the Second Life island ENERGIE. From your computer at home, you can watch and influence simulations or discover how much energy you might save when avoiding energy traps.

All the information is embedded in a typical town of the Harz mountains. Get the look and feel of an energy saving method. For example:
  • How big are solar panels? How do they look like from close up?
  • How much space do I need for a new kind of heating? Should it be gas or oil? Or something completely different?
  • How much water do you need to have a shower? How hot is the water that is produced by a solar panel?
During the 2 years of the project we will add simulations and information step by step. So it is never a bad idea to visit us in regular intervals. Getting information about energy saving methods while comfortable sitting in your living room at home

The online education- and information platform (BIENE) wants to offer an interactive information system rooted in Second Life which has a variety of advantages to other e-learning platforms.

This offer is for the normal Internet users as well as for small and medium sized enterprises. All topics of energy can be shown:
  • Saving energy in a household
  • Building rehabilitation, buildingconstruction
  • Energy efficient mobility
  • Energy efficient behaviour
All information, classes and events on our vhs Sim in Second Life are only in German!

Project name:
Showing and training of future orientated energy technologies on a three dimensional platform such as Second Life. The project is possible because it is partly financed through EFRE.

Advantages of a presentation in a 3D-world:
  • Realistic presentation
  • Dynamic content can be presented in a simulation in a 3D-surrouding which makes it even more life like..
  • Focusing on interaction with visitors
  • Interactive communication with the dynamic system and with other visitors ( knowledge seeker, teachers, students, consultants) encourage a more intensive debate with the contents that you cannot find in any other medium.
  • Availability and presentation of information
