Events

Sports in Second LifeWe want people to stay on our sim so that others, who land on the vhs sim, have a personal contact. To reach this goal, we offer a wide variety of attractive entertainment, ranging from classes for real life to second life topics but also knowledge camping, sports events, a theater group, evening entertainment and special seasonal events. BUT we don't use poseballs (automatic generated animation) for our events.

We think that it is important to be at the keyboard and not away from it when you want to have a lively community. Therefore during all our events people have to move their avatar with their mouse or keybuttons and talk to others in voice. Yes, we TALK. We don't type! Talking is a key function of social interaction in Real Life. If you talk, you make Second Life as real as it can become until someone starts to invent real life movement in order to move your avatar, smelling and touching.

Some examples - events that are mostly organized by group members of our vhs-community:
  • Kabinettstückchen (an event, where the audience can show what they like, have bought or created, where they can sing a song on the stage or perform something in front of an audience)
  • medieval tournaments - learn to do onlime gaming with lances, swords and more
  • sports competitions - form a team and try to win as a team in jetski, sailing, golf or other sports
  • board games - communicate with your team members to find the best strategies to win "Mensch ärgere Dich nicht" or other well known board games, that here in Second Life are presented in an XXL version
  • join the theater group for regular performances on the vhs island
  • join the seasonal festivities and events like Xmas-ice skating, Halloweeen-Market, the truth about Jesus youth, the druids in Germany, the equinox, and more ...
Offering a meeting place
Communication meetingpoint We made sure to offer a meeting place for people where they can talk to each other, share ideas, feel enclosed in a community of like-minded persons. Many persons of that community but also others who speak German are present at the meeting places on our sim in the evenings, nights and on weekends. And… they are NOT afk!

Building differently
Extremely important was it, to build an environment that is easy to walk around in as an avatar but on the other side is small enough to feel cozy. We think that extremely big and impressing buildings are nice to visit ONCE but not a place where you like to spend an evening or more. Also we are convinced that , as long as the prim limit is in SL and the internet connectitvity is not high enough in all towns in germany, it is iimportant to reduce the richness of details when building. It might be nice to have steaming cup of coffee and a newspaper for decoration an a desk but it is not really usuable for an avatar.
